CPM Program News 7-12-21

In-person classes begin September 9, 2021

After nearly 18 months of virtual delivery, in every platform from WebEx to Blackboard to Zoom, we are looking forward to offering in-person classes again beginning in September! We’re also pleased to begin holding our classes at the Dane County Extension Building in Madison, which should provide easy access and free parking for our participants.

Some virtual opportunities will remain in January and February; those are noted on the “Public Courses” website. It’s important to note that we are prepared to shift all offerings to virtual if it becomes necessary to implement new COVID-19 safety protocols.

Applications are open for the 2021-2023 Colleague Group

If you are a CPM graduate and know of a colleague who would benefit from this credential, please put them in touch with us! The next 18-month cohort will be hosted by Herzing University in Madison beginning Nov. 9, 2021. Applications are accepted through Sept. 3, but early submissions are encouraged to guarantee a place in the cohort.

A Milwaukee cohort is also in its initial planning stages, and we are exploring other regional options. If you feel there is a potential in your area for a group of 20-25 people, reach out to us at lgc@extension.wisc.edu.

New Public Engagement and Racial Equity classes for CPM in Winter/Spring 2021

With our new home in the Division of Extension has come excellent opportunities to offer new classes! We are excited to offer three new programs this winter and spring. First is a face-to-face class, Dialogue, Deliberation, and Public Engagement, facilitated by Annie Jones of Extension’s Community Development Institute on Dec. 7.

In January and February, we’ll be offering a pair of virtual classes co-facilitated by ananda mirilli, executive director of the nINA Collective, and Courtney Reed Jenkins, co-leader of the Disproportionality Technical Assistance Network (and a Wisconsin CPM). Racial Equity Leadership for Public Managers will be held on Jan. 27 and Sustaining Anti-Racist and Equitable Practices in Government Bodies on Feb. 24.

Registration is open now for all of these classes, so don’t delay! (And CPM grads, remember to ask us about our alumni discount.)
